If you're from Newfoundland, you know Mary Walsh - and chances are she's made you laugh, a time or two! But Mary is so much more than just a funny lady. She’s a Canadian icon, known for her razor-sharp wit, fearless satire, and deep commitment to social activism.

Born on May 13, 1952, in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, she stumbled into comedy after initially aspiring to be a journalist. Her career took off when she joined the Newfoundland Travelling Theatre Company in the 1970s, and she went on to co-found the legendary CODCO theatre troupe.
Mary Walsh is a beloved figure in Newfoundland's arts scene. She's an actress, comedian, and author who always makes us laugh and think.
